A busy city supermarket in Fulwood next-door to Royal Preston Hospital is to slash the parking time allowed for customers.

Booths say they are being forced to limit the parking time to one-hour due to people parking in the Sharoe Green Lane stores car park and heading over to the hospital site.

Signs have gone up warning customers of the change which comes into force on Monday 8 July.

At the moment there is two-hours free parking in the Booths car park – but this is being abused by hospital patients and visitors trying to avoid paying for parking at RPH.

A spokesperson told Blog Preston: “We’re aware that it has become increasingly difficult for shoppers to find a parking space at Booths Fulwood.

“To ensure that visitors have a better opportunity to park, we will be offering one hour of free parking, with an option to pay a fee on exit for up to two hours.

“Customers visiting our in-store cafe will be entitled to an additional hour’s free parking by either entering their reg details at a terminal by the café till, or requesting a single use barcode scanned at the payment terminal.”
