A woman from Preston has won Beauty Therapist of the Year at the Hair and Beauty Awards.

Louise Williamson, 45, a Broughton-based beauty therapist runs LW The Beauty Room which is on Garstang Road.

She said: “The event was phenomenal. It was such a prestigious event with over 1,000 other people up for the award.

“I didn’t think I was going to win and I couldn’t believe it when I did – I’m on cloud nine.

“It’s so nice to be recognised and make my family and my kids proud.”

Louise qualified as a beautician in 2012, when she used to offer all treatments such as nails and eyelashes.

Now she specialises in luxury facials, dermaplaning, massages and temple spa products. Her services are often described as ‘much more than just a facial’ due to the amount of care and thought that goes into it – with clients saying Louise goes ‘above and beyond’.

“My clients have been amazing. They watched the awards on a livestream and told me I was going to win, I didn’t believe them.”

Louise has also received support from her family and friends, especially her husband Andrew who is her ‘rock’.

“When my grandma passed away I made a promise to her that I would go self-employed and follow my dreams. She gave me a four leaf clover which I took to the event, I think she was watching over me”

Louise plans to expand her business to offer training and run a beauty academy. She also has plans to launch her own products such as gua sha’s.
