Finidi George has stepped down as the head coach of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles.
The resignation comes just days after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced plans to hire a foreign technical adviser.
The news of George’s resignation was confirmed by former Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, who took to his X account on Saturday to break the story.
Ibitoye’s post read: “News just in: Finidi George has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles manager position.”
Finidi George, who was appointed on April 29, 2024, had a brief stint in the role, succeeding Jose Peseiro whose contract expired in February.
During his tenure, the former Enyimba boss led the team in two matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifying series, resulting in a 1-1 draw with South Africa and a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic.
