HE’S been the subject of a love triangle on Love Island – with two women battling for his affection.
And while the Ronnie situation has been a major storyline on the show, the 27-year-old Islander has also been hitting headlines because of his hair.
Ronnie Vint has been hitting headlines for his hair situation – as well as his island antics[/caption]
After a picture emerged of Ronnie in bed, people began speculating as to whether his daytime look – with his brunette hair slicked back in a stylish ‘do – is down to a toupee.
Now self-described “ex baldy” Rhys has weighed in on the situation in a video on his TikTok page.
“People are like, ‘Is he wearing a toupee? What’s going on here?’” he said.
“As a guy who went bald, looked through all of the different hair loss treatments and ended up getting a hair transplant in the end, I can tell you exactly what’s happening here.
“So he’s got hair fibres in his hair, which is essentially a powder that you put onto your scalp, and it makes your hair look thicker and darker.”
“Then when you see him at night, he’s obviously rubbed all those hair fibers out of his hair before he’s gone to bed – because it will literally go all over the bedding – and you can see more just how much he is actually thinning.
“So, yeah, it’s not a toupee, it’s not a wig, it’s hair fibres.”
Rhys added that Ronnie is “obviously very insecure” about his hair loss, as otherwise he wouldn’t be using the hair fibres.
“Going bald as a man is actually such a freaking hard thing,” Rhys continued.
“I don’t think women actually understand just how hard it is.
“It’s part of your identity, and when you go bald, you lose a bit of yourself.
“It’s horrible.”
He urged people to “give the lad a little bit of a break”, and said that when he gets out of the villa he’ll hopefully be able to make a load of money and get a hair transplant – if that’s what he wants.
“Love Island’s Ronnie’s hair explained, from a fellow ex baldy,” Rhys captioned the TikTok.
In the comments section, people were quick to weigh in, with many admitting they’ve bene left baffled by his hair choices.
“I don’t why he has that pulled back hair style if he’s losing his hair,” one wrote.
“I can’t believe he’d go on the show and do it tbh, he must realise the bits where he takes it out will be filmed too,” another added.
“What does he do first thing in the morning then??? If it come off in the night?” a third asked.
To which someone else replied: “He puts his eye mask on his head then probably runs to the bathroom to put more hair fibres on before anyone sees him.”
“Guess he won’t be jumping into that pool!” another wrote.
The 4 stages of the hair growth cycle
Hair experts at Philip Kingsley shared the four stages of the hair growtn cycle are: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen
Anagen Phase: Also known as the ‘Growth Phase’ or ‘Active Phase’, is when the cells in the root of your hair are most rapidly dividing so more new hair is formed.
During the Anagen Phase, hair grows around half an inch a month [about six inches a year], and faster in the summer than in winter.
This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts an average of three to five years.
Catagen Phase: Following the Anagen Phase, your hair cycle enters a short transitional phase known as the Catagen Phase, which signals the end of active hair growth and cuts individual hairs off from the blood supply and from the cells that produce new hair.
Approximately three percent of all hairs are in this stage at any time and it lasts for around 10 days.
Telogen Phase: The third stage of your natural hair growth cycle is the Telogen Phase, a resting period when strands remain in their follicles but are not actively growing.
An estimate of 10-15 percent of your hairs are in the Telogen Phase at any given moment.
The Telogen Phase lasts around three months or 100 days.
Exogen Phase: The final stage of the Hair Growth Cycle, when individual hair strands are released from their follicles and fall out.
Now the whole process begins again.
And others said he should just accept his fate and shave his head.
“I can imagine how tough it is but I wish more men would feel comfortable and just embrace losing hair,” one wrote.
“I think so many men look good and sometimes even better with a shaved head.”
“He would rock a shaved head though!” another insisted.
“If he’s that insecure was going on Love Island a good idea” a third questioned.
“I think he’d look better with a shaved head!”
