A teenage girl with autism who was allegedly assaulted by a group of teens in Melbourne earlier this year has faced one of her alleged attackers in court.

Alajeck Anai faced Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday following the alleged attack at Altona Pier on February 28.

The victim's mother told 9News she was furious with the way the justice system has handled the case.

The Year 9 student is still recovering from her injuries, according to her mother.

"The court process, it just keeps getting adjourned and adjourned," Anna Axiak said.

"Sometimes I feel like they don't think it's a serious crime when it is a serious crime."

It's alleged the victim suffered more than 50 blows to the head during the attack, which her mother said she has struggled to recover from.

Alajeck Anai faced Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday following the alleged attack at Altona Pier on February 28.

It's more than three months since the attack and she hasn't returned to school, according to Axiak.

"It's killing me and her education, I can't get her back into school. It's so hard," she said.

Anai, who's facing numerous assault charges, will reappear in court in July.
