Long delays on the M6 southbound due to lane closures at Junction 31A

Motorists are experiencing long delays on the Monday morning commute due to a crash between Junction 31A and Junction 31 of the M6.

The crash – which took place around 7am on Monday (17 June) – has shut lanes on the southbound side of the motorway.

There are delays back to Junction 32 and the Broughton interchange according to Traffic England. The M6 Junction 31A entry slip road is seeing severe delays and backing up into the Bluebell Way industrial estate and Fulwood as a result.

Delays of around 35 minutes and four-miles of congestion are reported on the M6 southbound – and a fuel spillage is now being treated at the scene. Three lanes re-opened around 8.15am and delays are expected until around 11am on Monday.

A spokesperson for Preston Police said four cars were involved in the crash – but it’s understood no one was seriously hurt.

There’s also congestion and delays on the M6 northbound from Junction 29 up to 31 as well as the M61 northbound from Junction 8 to where it joins the M6.
