The Australian Border Force confirmed an outage has impacted the smart gates at airports across the country and crews are working to quickly fix the issue.
"We are working to fix the issue as quickly as possible, and have deployed additional officers to assist with facilitating travellers," a spokesperson said.

"We apologise for any delays passengers are experiencing."
There are currently crowds stretching from the immigration gate to the other end of the terminal at Sydney.
"Flying international out of Sydney? There is a km long queue for immigration check," one would-be traveller said on social media.
Virgin, Qantas and Jetstar flights have not been impacted by the delays as ground staff are calling passengers forward.
