Three people were reported dead and 11 injured, including two police officers, after a gunman attacked an Arkansas grocery store on Friday, according to the Arkansas State Police.
The suspect was also injured during a gunfight with law enforcement, as reported by Arkansas State Police Director Mike Hagar to the press.
The incident took place at the Mad Butcher supermarket in Fordyce, a town with a population of 3,200, located approximately 70 miles (112 km) south of Little Rock.”
“We regret to confirm that 11 innocent civilians were shot, with three fatalities. Two police officers were hurt during the exchange of gunfire, and the suspect was also injured and apprehended,” Hagar stated. He did not provide details on the shooting’s circumstances or take questions.
He mentioned that the injured officers and the suspect are expected to recover.
Civilian injuries range from minor to life-threatening, he added.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders expressed on social media platform X that she was informed about the event. “I am thankful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives. My prayers are with the victims and all those impacted by this horrific incident,” she said.
