A group of travellers have set up camp in Fulwood with the council beginning processes to move them on – and implement repairs.

The group were spotted setting up on Sunday (2 June) at Longsands Green on Neapsands Close in Fulwood.

A member of the public told Blog Preston they broke into the park by ‘smashing down’ a protected gate with their vehicle.

The group were still there last night (4 June) but are suspected to be moving onto Appleby Horse Fair in Cumbria which starts tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Preston City Council said: “We are aware of the new encampment on the Millennium Green and the processes have begun to remove the travellers from this site.

“The gate will be repaired as soon as possible.”
