A barber living in Preston, subject to a viral meme 18 years ago, has launched his new product after two years of putting it all together.
Danny Andrews, known as the ‘fish and rice cakes guy’ has been working on developing the secret project for years, alongside his full-time job of running a barber shop in Fulwood.
At the age of 16, he went viral after appearing on BBC Three’s ‘Baby Face Body Builders’. The video, on YouTube, has racked up 3.8 million views where Danny explains his diet which consists of fish and rice cakes.

After years of bullying, Danny has decided to ‘change the narrative and put himself back out there’ by creating his own brand of protein rice cakes which reflects positive his transformation.
He said: “It’s been two years of craziness. We’ve got our own unit and created everything from scratch.
“It’s scary putting myself back out there 18 years later but I have always thought about doing it – now is my time.”

Danny explained how even after almost two decades, somebody always references the viral video. For years he was subject to bullying and got ‘nothing from it apart from abuse’.
After appearing on Channel 4’s First Dates, Danny’s outlook changed.
“If you asked me three years ago if I would delete the video and forget it ever existed, I would do it in a heartbeat.
“Now, I wouldn’t change it for the world, I just hope I can make something out of it.”

Danny is calling on other businesses and local people in Preston to support his new venture.
“It’s been a long process and I was a bit sceptical at first.
“We needed to make sure it has the right amount of protein in it, the packaging looks nice and of course, it needs to taste good.
“First it’ll just be available on my website but the dream is for it to be available across the UK in supermarkets.
“It’s important for small, independent businesses to support each other and I hope the people of Preston can do just that.”
