There is currently an estimated shortage of 7,000 foster carers across England and this includes locally in Preston and across Lancashire.

Beacon Fostering Agency, based in Preston, is focused on the recruitment and support to foster carers to help support children and young persons for their wellbeing, safety and personal development.

The agency provides full training, therapeutic intervention, social worker support and competitive foster carer payments.

If you are interested in becoming a foster carer or are an existing foster carer considering transferring fostering agency, Beacon Fostering would love to hear from you and they are also holding an information session on Thursday 11 July at 12.30pm, you can register via Eventbrite for the online session.

Beacon Fostering has family ethos and does have local roots to the Preston area itself.

Simon Williams, Director for Beacon Fostering grew up locally in Preston, going to Preston College before his career in fostering.

Simon said: “We hope Beacon Fostering can make a difference for children locally. The agency is actually named after nearby Beacon Fell Country Park, I really enjoyed visiting there as a child and we aim to have future activities here and locally for children and young persons.

“Being a foster carer can be challenging a times but very rewarding when you see a young person progress themselves and be happy. If we can help more children and foster carers have better futures, then this would be great and our main focus.”

Beacon Fostering overall has a focus on Lancashire, Preston, Blackpool, Blackburn and the North West. To be a foster carer, you need to have a spare room, time for fostering overall and be aged 21 or above. Our recruitment team can talk you through how to become a foster carer. You can request a call back or contact the Beacon team via the Beacon website.
