The Nigerian entertainment industry is mourning the loss of veteran Nollywood actor Dayo Adewunmi, popularly known as “Sule Suebebe,” who passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged illness.
Popular Ibadan-based cleric and philanthropist shared the sad news, Ademola Amusan, also known as “Agbala Gabriel,” on his Facebook page, “Agbala Gabriel Global Page.” Amusan wrote, “It’s a pity, Baba Suebebe died at the hospital this morning. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Amusan had been pivotal in raising funds for Adewunmi’s medical expenses and provided him with a new house in 2023.
Sule Suebebe’s Impact on Nollywood
Sule Suebebe, a beloved comic actor, featured in over 100 movies in Nollywood. He was well-known for his roles in “Suku Suku Bam Bam” (2004) and “Ago Kan Oru” (2003).
In addition to his acting career, he worked as an MC and TV presenter and ran a YouTube channel, Suebebe TV, where he produced content promoting Yoruba culture and language.
Sule Suebebe trended on the Nigerian social media space last year after Kemisola Arioyo called on the public to render financial assistance to the actor who had been bedridden for two years.
