20-year-old arrested after machete incident on bus in Walton-le-Dale

A young man was arrested after an incident on a bus between Preston and Blackburn.

Police were called to Higher Walton Road after reports of a man with a machete on the 152 bus service, which witnesses said had seen passengers exit the bus during the incident.

A 20-year-old man from Bury was arrested on suspicion of threatening with a blade or sharply-pointed article in a public place. He remains in custody.

A spokesperson for police told Blog Preston: “We were called at around 5:05pm on Tuesday 16th July to reports of a man on a bus with a machete on Higher Walton Road, Walton-le-Dale.

“Officers attended and a 20 year old man from Bury was arrested on suspicion of threatening with a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place.

“He is currently in custody.”
