YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

Internist and author of The Ageless Revolution, Dr. Michael Aziz, has shared the inside age-defying skincare scoop with The U.S. Sun.

One of the most crucial habits for keeping a smooth complexion includes what you not only put on but also what you put in, your body.

“Following a healthy lifestyle, including a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and fish, as well as managing stress effectively,” he said.

You will also want to add some simple steps to your routine.

SKIN WIN

“Prioritizing skincare, including daily use of high SPF sunscreen, moisturizing after washing, and regular exfoliation,” he said.

Another habit with some of the biggest results is getting your beauty sleep.

According to Dr. Aziz, getting adequate sleep “enhances blood flow to the skin and improves its appearance.”

If you don’t want to develop wrinkles, he advises staying clear of smoking.

“It generates free radicals that harm the skin,” he said.

And that’s not the only thing those with healthy skincare practices keep away from to prevent signs of aging.

“Avoiding sun exposure and UV rays, which can severely damage the skin,” he said.

KEEP IT NATURAL

He also explained how costly items don’t necessarily lead to a clearer complexion.

In fact, many expensive products can have harmful effects on your skin.

“Many people often fall for gimmicks and buy expensive treatments from large department stores that may feel nice but often contain harmful chemicals, parabens, dyes, and alcohol, which can dry out the skin,” he said.

Dr. Aziz always prefers more natural ingredients.

Why does our skin wrinkle as we age?

Dr. Michael Aziz, an internist and the author of the upcoming book The Ageless Revolution, revealed five habits of young-looking people.

“As we age, we lose collagen, and elastin fibers break down,” Dr. Aziz told The U.S. Sun.

“Additionally, fat under the skin diminishes in our thirties, reducing its support.

“Consequently, wrinkles appear as what was once smooth and plump becomes loose and wrinkled.

“However, there are solutions available to build collagen, such as new devices, microneedling, and ultrasound devices at your local dermatologist.

“Cosmetic procedures like fat transfer are also becoming popular among plastic surgeons.”

And the best part is many of these grocery and drugstore products won’t break the bank.

“Since skin is made of protein, it’s beneficial to use products with natural compounds such as vitamin C, known for its anti-aging properties and support of the skin’s natural regeneration process.”

“Retinol (Vitamin A) is excellent for reducing wrinkles, while creams with peptides help build collagen,” he continued.

“Natural moisturizers like cocoa butter, shea butter, and coconut oil are also effective for hydrating the skin.”

His newly released book also shares his tips for longevity and combatting disease.
