SAVVY beauty lovers have discovered what they call the ”best and cheapest” way to remove patchy fake tan.
As Brits are facing a soggy summer – with 50 days of rain in just three months – many of us are sticking to fake tan to give our a skin a bronzed, sunkissed look.
But if you’re an avid fake tan user like us, the team at Fabulous, you will know that this also comes with the dreaded scrubbing day, spending ages desperately trying to get rid of the old tan.
Luckily, savvy beauty lovers have come to rescue, taking to TikTok to share an easy hack to remove the patchy mess with no faff – or painful scrubbing involved.
One clever social media user, only known as Catherine (@catherinnnneeeeee), demonstrated how you can go back to your natural complexion with just two products – Johnson’s Baby Lotion, as well as a wet wipe.
In the video, viewers could see how Catherine first applied the purse-friendly lotion onto her tanned arm and rubbing it into her skin.
After she had left the skincare buy work its magic for a little bit of time, the beauty loved grabbed a wet wipe and removed the lotion – and with it also came off the old tan.
All chuffed with the affordable hack, Catherine proudly showed off the jaw-dropping results – and fellow TikTok users could clearly see that the skin was now significantly paler where the lotion had been.
”Best & cheapest hack ever,” she said in the comments, also explaining the reason the trick had worked so well.
”I think any oil based moisturiser will break down tan that’s probably why.”
Her video has indeed impressed many, as it’s racked up close to a whopping 200k views in just four days.
Stunned by how easy the fake tan removal was, several people raced to share their thoughts and tag their pals.
”So when I put this over my tan that’s why it comes off,” one person finally realised.
”We need this,” another told their friend.
”Worth a try,” someone else was keen to give the hack a go.
Johnson’s Baby Lotion is available at a number of supermarkets and big stores across the country, including Tesco where a 500ml bottle sells for £3.
Biggest beauty mistakes
Fabulous’ Beauty Editor Tara Ledden has shared the do’s and don’ts when it comes to beauty.
“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you’re not getting the basics right, the rest is wasted.
“There aren’t many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty mistakes sabotaging your regime.”
- Not wearing SPF: Sun-damage is the main cause of premature skin ageing, so if you want to keep your skin looking plump and glowing, sun cream is vital.
- Using expired products: Best case, they’re ineffective and don’t deliver the results they promise, worst case they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products differ – for example, mascara is usually good for 3-6 months while lipstick can last for 9-18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the packaging (it looks like a jar and will have a number inside for how many months it’s safe once opened. If you can’t remember when you opened your product, throw it away and start again, marking the month and year with a permanent marker on the packaging.
- Not knowing your undertones: If you’re using make-up with the wrong undertones, it’ll never look natural no matter how much you blend it! An easy trick to work out whether you have cool, warm or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist – if they look blue, you have cool undertones, if they’re green, you have warm and if they’re a mix you have neutral.
- Skipping heat protector: It might feel unnecessary, but much like sun damage on the skin, excess heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So, if you want shiny, healthy hair, or you’re trying to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is key.
- Not washing your face before bed: it’s as simple as this, if you’re not washing your face before you go to sleep, everything that’s been on your skin during the day is sitting there for even longer, clogging your pores and drying out the surface. Any skincare applied on top isn’t going to be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you’re probably going to end up with dirty pillows too – yuck!
Meanwhile, rival Asda offer the same product for £2 and Boots shoppers will be set back £2.25 when buying this skincare essential.
Don’t feel like leaving the house? You can also order the lotion from Amazon where it sells for an affordable.
Not only will the formula remove the patchy fake tan mess, the coconut oil-enriched lotion will also leave your skin feeling soft and smooth – after just one use.
Free from parabens and dyes, the hypoallergenic formula is great for both the little ones and adults.
