The highly anticipated follow-up to D’banj’s 2008 album ‘Entertainer’ is set to be released on August 9. Titled ‘Entertainer — The Sequel’, the album features an impressive lineup of Nigerian and international music stars as revealed by ‘The Kokomaster’.
The 13-track album includes collaborations with global music heavyweights like Wyclef Jean, Awilo Logomba, Youssou N’Dour, Akon, and Phyno. Other featured artists include DJ Maphorisa, Chechi Sarai, Timaya, Kayswitch, Zlatan, Peruzzi, Bhadboi Oml, and Chuchu Lee.
Tracks on the album are ‘World Famous’, ‘Healer’, ‘Kala’, ‘Yours Truly’, ‘Koko’, ‘Serious’, ‘Since 04’, ‘My Melody’, ‘Worthy’, ‘Peaky Blinders’, ‘I Am Legend’, ‘Taya’, and ‘Koko Remix’.
D’banj has now released three songs off the upcoming album
Earlier on Friday, D’banj released ‘Worthy‘, the tenth track from the album, which features Senegalese Grammy award-winning singer Youssou N’Dour and Chechi Sarai. The song, described by the 44-year-old artist as a “message of hope and unity to all Africans,” emphasizes the power of a united Africa.
“When we come together as one, we not only honour our heritage but also unlock our borderless potential to lead the world. The future belongs to a united Africa, worthy of her dreams and aspirations,” D’banj said.
The release was accompanied by a colourful music video celebrating African heritage. The song was co-written by Nigerian rapper Olamide.
Earlier this year, D’banj released two tracks from the album, ‘Since O4’ and ‘Koko’, generating significant buzz among fans.
D’banj, born Oladapo Oyebanjo, first gained fame with his 2005 debut album ‘No Long Thing’. Since then, he has garnered numerous awards and continues to be a prominent figure in the music industry.
