Family of Aussie allegedly stabbed to death in Thailand ‘heartbroken’

The family of an Australian man who died in Thailand after he was allegedly stabbed say they are heartbroken after his passing.

Ross Liam Michael, 35, died after the attack in the tourist hotspot of Krabi, 650km south of Bangkok.

"We are heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful, gifted, much beloved Liam," his family said in a statement.

"The world is a poorer place for his passing," they said.

Michael's family thanked his friends, family and colleagues for their support.

An American man is accused of the stabbing with a fruit knife, which happened at Ai Nang Beach on July 22, according to local media Pattaya Mail.

It was reported the pair had a dispute in a bar which escalated to an alleged stabbing at 2am.

Michael suffered stomach injuries and was rushed to Watthanapat Ao Nang Hospital and later transferred to Krabi Hospital, where he died.

The accused, who is American, is being held by police and has been charged over the death, according to reports.
