A man was arrested and charged after a car chase that spanned across much of the North West.
Police approached a man sleeping in a grey Volkswagen Passat on the side of the M6 at around 5.15am on Sunday (21 July) close to Forton Services in Lancaster.
The man noticed police officers approaching his car and sped off, leading police down the M6 past Preston to junction 21A, onto the M56, around the M60, onto the M62 and back onto the M66 in East Lancashire.

The car was eventually stopped when a stinger was deployed by officers on the M56 near Edenfield in Rossendale.
Mohammed Fitouri, 40, of Galloway Street, Glasgow was arrested, and has since been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving a motor vehicle on a road while exceeding the prescribed drug limit, and driving with no insurance.
He was remanded in custody before he appeared before Blackburn Magistrates’ Court this week. He will appear at Preston Crown Court on 2 September and was given an interim disqualification from driving order.
