Nigerian musician Korede Bello has confirmed that his relationship with former record label boss Don Jazzy remains solid and unwavering.
In a recent interview, the “African Princess” singer discussed his transition from Mavin Records to a solo career. Don Jazzy is a veteran of the Nigerian music scene, playing a huge role in the industry’s modern era.
Don Jazzy is particularly famous for his relationship with D’Banj in the early 2000s, his music production skills, and his achievements as a record label boss. He has worked with artists such as Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Ayra Starr, and more.
Since Korede Bello’s contract with Mavins ended, he has maintained a stellar relationship with Don Jazzy and the duo even collaborated on a single, “Minding My Business” recently.
Bello highlighted the importance of balance and understanding in his journey, noting that although he is no longer officially with Mavin Records, he and Don Jazzy will always be family.
Korede Bello was introduced to Don Jazzy by his manager Casmir Uwaegbute in 2014 and the musician impressed the producer during the recording sessions they had. In February of the same year, he got signed to Mavin Records under which he recorded hit songs like “Do Like That” and “Godwin”.
When the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) presented the Gold Certification Award to Korede Bello for his hit single “Do Like That,” it was the highest certified digital single of all time for him and Mavin Records at the time. He exited the Mavin record label in 2021.

Korede Bello’s plans beyond music
Korede Bello also hinted at his plans to diversify his career beyond music during the show. He has engaged in several humanitarian activities, particularly for health-related issues over time. He is a Mental Health Advocate and he aims to end mental health stigma and support young people living with mental illness.
He revealed that he has now launched a perfume line offering niche fragrances and is exploring the wellness industry. His goal is to help people achieve physical and mental wellness through affordable products.
