Lightfoot Lane to see temporary traffic lights until mid-September

One of Fulwood’s busiest routes is set to see temporary traffic lights continue for at least the next two weeks and then at various points until the middle of September.

Motorists are reporting delays of up to half-an-hour at peak times on the stretch of Lightfoot Lane near Wychnor and Broadsman Road in Fulwood.

Electricity North West have temporary traffic lights in place for underground cable works.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “We have notified local residents that engineers will be working on Brookside Road, Lightfoot Lane and Broadway to install an underground cable for a new connection to the power network.

“As agreed with Lancashire County Council both Brookside Road and Broadway will be kept open in one direction to aid traffic flow and we’ll also be using temporary traffic lights on Lightfoot Lane which will allow engineers to work safely.”

The work at the Wychnor and Lightfoot Lane junction is due to be complete by Friday 26 July.

A next phase of works will then take place, progressing further down Lightfoot Lane with temporary traffic lights due to be in place until mid-September along various parts of the route.
