A police spokesperson told Blog Preston: “Our officers attended and very sadly the body of a man in his 40s was found. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and an investigation is ongoing.”
<p>He said the referee, Hooper, was "devastated" by the mistake. </p>
