Netherlands head coach, Ronald Koeman has predicted the national team that could win the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
Ronaldo Koeman attempted to win the championship after struggling in the group stage in which his team recorded one win, one defeat and one draw.
The inconsistent run forced them to finish third in their group, but they still qualified for the knockout round as one of the four best third-placed teams.
In the round of 16, they defeated Romania 0-3, and beat Turkey 2-1 in the quarter-finals, but suffered a 2-1 defeat against England in the semi-finals.
Even though Ronald Koeman believes that poor officiating contributed to England’s victory over the Netherlands, the former FC Barcelona coach said the English side are favourites to win the title.
Unlike most pundits who believe that England have been boring so far at the tournament, Koeman stressed that coach Gareth Southgate and his boys have what it takes to win the Euro 2024 final over Spain, who are seen as the most entertaining side.
After Netherlands’s 2-1 defeat to England, Koeman said: “I think England showed great football in the first half after [going] 1-0 down.
“It’s football and maybe if you watch all the matches of them, maybe the Spanish national team are playing a little bit more offensive, with wingers, great football from the back, great ball possession. You need to stop that.
“But England are in the final and they have possibilities to win it, maybe.
“From outside, Spain are playing at a high level but England can stop them. Why not?”
Note that the Euro 2024 final will kick off at 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 14.
