Tom and Gillian Jackson, who own the pub are set for retirement. ‘Work-mad’ Tom has only had six weeks off work in his life, he is planning to work voluntarily for the NHS.

Tom said: “I have been here for 26 years overall and it is surprising how many new friends I have made, even though I am from Longridge and they are from Longridge, it is amazing how many new people you will meet.”

For 21 years the business was run as a fruit and vegetable shop by Tom and Gillian before they transformed it into a craft ale bar five years ago.
