The Paris Olympics Committee has revealed that Snoop Dogg will play a pivotal role in the upcoming opening ceremony on Friday by carrying the iconic torch for the final step of it relay.
The committee expressed their excitement in an official statement, “We are thrilled to announce that Snoop Dogg will be one of the final torchbearers for the Paris 2024 Olympics.”
“His influence transcends music, impacting global culture and inspiring millions of young people. Having Snoop Dogg carry the torch embodies the spirit of unity and diversity that the Olympics stand for, bridging generations and celebrating the vibrancy of contemporary culture alongside our rich traditions.”
Snoop Dogg, known for his charismatic personality and groundbreaking contributions to the music industry with 17 Grammy nominations, and a Primetime Emmy Award, amongst other notable achievements, shared his enthusiasm on social media, stating, “It’s an honor to be part of this historic event. Carrying the Olympic torch is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I can’t wait to represent my fans and the spirit of unity in Paris.”

Several famous faces have been chosen to carry the Olympic torch during various segments of its relay to Paris such as French Football legend Thiery Henry, Charles LeClerc, Halle Berry, Arsene Wenger, Salma Hayek, and others. These torchbearers were selected based on their significant contributions to France, either on a national scale or within their local communities.
Other carriers of the torch in Saint-Denis on Friday include French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, is set to hold from July 24 to August 11, 2024.
