A Garstang microbar is set to almost double in size after taking on the shop next door.

Gin and Brews, Stoops Hall, Garstang, has become a popular fixture in the town’s drinking scene since it opened as a bar and bottle shop in March 2023.

And the success of the venue has led owner, Katie Harris, to take on a former toy shop next door, which will allow the bar to grow its capacity from 38 to 70 people.

Katie said: “The bar gets so full at weekends that people were having to sometimes miss us out.

“When people saw me looking through next door’s window they suspected something was going on, and by knocking through it will allow us to do more private functions without upsetting our regulars.

“What we are doing is exciting for Garstang and good for the town.”

Katie hopes work will be complete by some time in August and, alongside increasing the capacity of the venue, she said they were looking to install a kitchen which would allow them to offer food as well.

She added: “We only work with craft breweries and small family businesses and we believe that makes us different.

“Creating the right atmosphere and ensuring high levels of customer services are really important to us. This is an exciting next step and the feedback has been great.”
