A self-guided walk around Preston city centre is available for ‘datestone detectives’.

The Friends of Winckley Square have created the Going On A Date booklet to help people explore different aspects of Preston’s history.

The free booklet is full of clues and photographs of datestones that can be ticked off as they’re discovered.

There’s also tips to avoid being fooled by false leads, and a guide on how to convert Roman numerals to modern numbers.

The booklet is available in libraries across the city and the Avenham Pavilion, plus the Friends of Winckley Square website.
