A woman from Preston has reached out to thank a fencing company based in Fulwood who rescued her puppy after it escaped from her home.
Gaby Ingham’s staffy puppy, Nelly, who turned one year old just the day before, escaped from her backyard on Tuesday 30 July.
At around 10am she realised Nelly was not at home. Gaby set out to find her, shouting and running up and down a busy Lytham Road.

She said: “As you may imagine, in a high-traffic area I was beside myself, running around in tears, shouting for Nelly and checking nearby junctions on Black Bull Lane and asking at local garages.
“As I ran around crying, I was met by a man on a forklift who asked if I was okay.”
The man asked her about the breed and thankfully let Gaby know that Nelly had been with the team at BG Fencing, based on Black Bull Lane, that morning.

Gaby added: “When I asked for a hug, he calmed me down, saying, “Don’t worry, it’s awful losing a pet, but we kept her safe.”
“There were a number of lads that reassured me telling me how much of a character Nelly is. As the forecourt was busy with lorries unloading new materials, they thought it best to take her somewhere quieter and get her checked. “
Luke, one of the employees at the fencing company had made a makeshift lead out of rope and taken Nelly to Oakhill Vets.
Gaby said: “When I got there, Nelly was happy as Larry sitting on Luke’s knee and jumped off when she saw me. I gave him a hug and thanked him.
“BG Fencing is a local firm employing decent local people who have done something outstanding for a community member while working tirelessly at their own jobs”
