The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh as the Director General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
The confirmation follows his successful screening by the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.
The nomination, transmitted by President Bola Tinubu, was contained in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, requesting the Senate’s consideration and confirmation of Dr. Ewalefoh as the DG of ICRC, in line with the ICRC Act, 2005.
During his screening, Dr. Ewalefoh assured the Committee that he would enhance the Commission’s operations and boost investor confidence in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) ecosystem.
He highlighted the importance of including a review clause in PPP agreements to ensure the flexibility and sustainability of projects.
Dr. Ewalefoh also emphasized the sanctity of contracts and the necessity for all parties to adhere strictly to contract provisions and clauses.
Senator Sadik Umar, Chairman of the Committee on Trade and Investment, praised Dr Ewalefoh for his extensive academic qualifications, knowledge of Public-Private Partnerships, and experience in infrastructure development and PPP negotiation.
The new DG also received accolades from the former governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and other committee members.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio congratulated Dr. Ewalefoh on his confirmation, urging him to work selflessly and sacrificially to enhance the renewed hope agenda of the current administration.
“I congratulate him on behalf of the 10th Senate and wish him well in his endeavours,” Akpabio said.
