Former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has encouraged Nigeria’s team in the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games to strive and bring trophies home.
Peter Obi said he was pleased Nigeria would be represented by 88 athletes who would compete across different sporting events.
In a statement on Saturday, the former governor of Anambra State wished Nigeria’s team an injury-free competition.
Obi further reminded Nigeria’s team that the country has been known for greatness. He expressed confidence that Nigeria’s team, with their talents, will face every competition with resilience and courage.
On his X handle, he said, “I like to extend my sincere best wishes to the Nigerian contingent to the 2024 Olympic Games in the French capital, Paris. Drawn from across different sporting events, our dear nation will be represented by 88 athletes.
“May I humbly remind them that Nigeria is known for greatness and victory. We are talented, resilient, determined and courageous in the face of competition. As they fly our national flag at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“I urge the athletes and their coaches to hold onto our spirit of strength and victory and strive to bring home the trophies. I wish them safe and injury-free days. Our kind thoughts and full support are with them.”
