In an impressive act of community outreach, the Edmonton Arts Council and the City of Edmonton are rolling out over 100 dazzling neighbourhood Green Shack Shows, 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, all the way up to Aug. 23.
In an impressive act of community outreach, the Edmonton Arts Council and the City of Edmonton are rolling out over 100 dazzling neighbourhood Green Shack Shows, 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, all the way up to Aug. 23.
A stream of inventive performers will activate parks spanning the entire city with singing, dancing, theatre and even puppet shows.
Up first are internationally acclaimed Dancing Cree and Joyful Noise’s Sankofa Series: A West African Theatrical Story, with morning shows in Elsinore, Patricia Heights, Eaux Claires and Highlands, then afternoon performances in Dunluce, Rio Terrace, Belle Rive and Virginia Park.
Next week it’s Tanzanian-born storyteller Tololwa Mollel and brass quintet Bok Brass, the following week Jest Kidding, Métis jigging with Brianna Lizotte and Mile Zero Dance featuring Jeannie Vanderkhove.
Mythic Quest, The Magic Balloon Show, Kompany Family Theatre, Spandy Andy, Cirquetastic, Seeka Sings, Kaybridge Puppets and other acts take us into late August.
