As Nigerians take to the streets for the #EndBadGovernance protests, one wonders why the voices of many of our celebrities are yet to be heard. Some followers of the Grammy-award winner, Burna Boy appeared to have called him out on X to lend his voice to the protest.
Addressing fans who jumped on the comment section of his X page to call him out, Burna Boy said the fight in him to support the demonstration died on October 20, 2020, during the EndSARS protest.

Maybe, like Burna Boy, the events of the 20/10/20 protests left many other celebrities with bigger scars than the average protester as many celebrities like the ‘African Giant’ were cancelled or bashed for not giving the masses a suitable response to the protests.
One then wonders if this has caused our celebrities to retreat to the sidelines and has forced them to watch silently as Nigerians across the country protest to end bad governance.
It is, however, notable that some celebrities have esteemed their citizenship higher than their careers and income sources and have come out regardless to support their fellow Nigerians.
Prophet Isa El-Buba reportedly led the protest in Jos, Plateau State while DJ Cuppy lent a voice to heaven in prayer over her country and people.
Other celebrities like former BBN winner, Laycon, have also come out to lend their support. Omah Lay took a minute away from his craft to lend a voice to the protest.
There are mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some taking turns to drag their favourite celebrities for not speaking up, while the rest resort to reposting posts and screenshots of their faves speaking up for the people and against bad governance in times past.
People have come out to say that they do not need celebrities to lend a voice before they are motivated to speak up.
