A former MOT testing station used by Preston Bus could soon be converted to housing.

The bus company’s parent firm, Rotala Shared ServicesLtd, has submitted plans to repurpose the redundant site on Deepdale Road by creating four one bedroom apartments.

The building was previously used by the company for MOT tests and then for the same use by another company. However, it is no longer in use and a new purpose is being proposed for the building.

In its application, Rotala says: “The proposal will make use of a redundant building as well providing additional low-cost accommodation within the area. The alterations will also improve the appearance of the building within the Argyll Road street scene.”

The company says it will submit a separate application for “the external alterations to the building and the creation of the amenity space”.

Elsewhere on the Deepdale Road site then major renovation work is taking place to the bus repair centre.
