Multi-specialist physician Dr. Azza Halim is well-known in the beauty scene for her skincare advice and treatment plans.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she revealed which myths should be ignored to prioritize your skin health and maintain a youthful appearance.

MASSIVE MYTHS

Dr. Halim said a big misconception is that “skincare products are all that’s needed to erase wrinkles.”

According to the expert, that is “not true.”

She explained that they can only “help reduce the appearance of
wrinkles, but they can’t completely erase them.”

The best solutions are professional in-office treatments like Botox and other injectables.

She added that they will “eventually” be needed for more significant signs of aging.

Professional in-office treatments are recommended for more significant issues.

Another major myth is not needing to start anti-aging products until you see wrinkles.

Dr. Halim said this was “bad advice” because prevention is key.

Other myths she said not to pay attention to stemmed from sun protection and touched on acne and breakouts.

If you think you only have to wear sunscreen on sunny days or outdoors, think again.

Dr. Halim explained that photodamage also occurs on sunny days and with indoor lights.

If you have oily skin, you still need to wear moisturizer, even though a big beauty myth is not to.

“Oily skin still needs hydration and moisture to balance oil secretion,” she said.

Lately, there has been a bigger push for natural botanical products because many see them as better due to fewer additives.

Dr. Halim called this “misleading as many have plant allergies or sensitivity.”

Lastly, experiencing acne only in puberty and teen years is not true, as it is still quite common in many adults.

BUDGET BUYS

The skincare expert admitted that finding effective age-defying products on a budget “can be challenging.”

That is why she provided several examples to choose from.

When it comes to cleansers, she suggested the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser, $15.49, and the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel, $18.99, which are both found at Target.

Another brand full of high-quality cheap buys is The Ordinary.

She recommended the Buffet Peptide Serum, $18.99, and the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, $12.50.

Even though they’re a bit more pricey, these next three products can also be found at your local drugstore.

Stock up on L’Oréal Paris 10% Pure Vitamin C Serum, $33.49, as well as EltaMD’s Barrier Skin Moisturizer Renewal Complex, $42, and UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 Sunblock, $43.

Dr. Halim said that “good skincare and exfoliation, along with sun protection are ideal.”
