Big Brother Naija reality show star and artist, Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe, popularly known as Laycon, has publicly called out record producer DJ Neptune over allegations of unpaid royalties to their collaboration on “Nobody (Icons Remix).”
Laycon, who rose to fame as the winner of the 2020 Big Brother Naija reality show, expressed his frustration on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the long-overdue payment for his work on the track.
The 30-year-old rapper featured prominently in the music video for the remix of the hit song, originally produced by DJ Neptune, whose real name is Imohiosen Patrick. Despite the song’s release nearly four years ago, the singer’s payment remains unsettled.
Laycon’s post on the issue has ignited a flurry of discussions among fans and industry insiders, some of whom have pointed out that other artists have faced similar issues with royalty payments in the Nigerian music scene.
Notably, in 2021, music artist Rema also accused DJ Neptune of copyright infringement.
DJ Neptune has not issued a public response to the allegations from the 2020 Big Brother winner.
