STM fares are going up and getting around Montreal will soon be (a little) more expensive
<img src="https://www.mtlblog.com/media-library/bus-parked-at-the-side-of-the-road-in-montreal.jpg?id=60064092&width=1200&height=400&coordinates=0%2C112%2C0%2C112"/><br/><br/><p>Public transit in Montreal is about to get more expensive.</p><p>On Wednesday, the <a href="https://www.artm.quebec/grilles-tarifaires-2025-2026/" target="_blank">Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM)</a> announced a new fare schedule that takes effect July 1, 2025, with increases on several <a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/tag/stm-montreal" target="_blank">STM</a> and regional transit passes — including monthly subscriptions and unlimited weekend options.</p><p>"This measure helps limit the financial impact on customers, while ensuring that we can continue to offer a reliable and efficient service," said Benoît Gendron, Director General of ARTM, <a href="https://www.artm.quebec/grilles-tarifaires-2025-2026/" target="_blank">in a press release .</a></p><p><a href="https://www.artm.quebec/grilles-tarifaires-2025-2026/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"></a>If you commute within Zone A (Montreal), a monthly pass will rise from $94 to $104.50, while the four-month subscription jumps from $233 to $240. However, single-ride fares on <a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/montreal-canadiens-stm-habs-buses" target="_blank">buses</a> and metros will stay the same at $3.75 apiece.</p><p>Crossing between zones will also cost more. Kids under 11 ride free when accompanied by someone 14 or older.
