Omah Lay has shared that a fellow artist he trusted with a creative idea ended up using it for their album. The “Boy Alone” further went on to declare that his upcoming album would be the best in Afrobeats history.
During an interview on the Zach Sang Show, the Nigerian music star explained that he developed a new sound while recording his 2023 hit single, “Holy Ghost.”
Omah Lay said he planned to use this sound for his upcoming album and discussed the idea with another artist, whose name he didn’t mention, who had approached him for a collaboration.
However, Omah Lay revealed that five months later, the artist released an album featuring the same sound he had shared with them. This forced him to rework his entire project.
Despite the setback, Omah Lay is confident about his upcoming album, describing it as the “greatest album of all time in Afrobeats history.”
“My song ‘Holy Ghost’ introduced a new sound. I was going to base the whole album on this sound, but I changed my mind along the way,” he said.
“I shared the idea with an artist I love, and later, that artist released an album with the exact sound I had planned to use. So, I had to redo my album, which is actually going to be the greatest in Afrobeats history.”
Omah Lay, who shot to fame in 2020 with his hit singles “You” and “Bad Influence,” continues to make his mark in the Nigerian music scene with his distinctive style.
