Omah Lay announced his forthcoming sophomore album a few weeks ago. The project which he titled Clarity Of Mind is according to him coming from a better mind space.
Fans have been asking Omah Lay for new music for a long time as he last dropped music in 2023 and he looks like he’s finally about to hear their cries and give them something to snack on before the Album.
The single ‘Moving’ he premiered on Amazon Music at an exclusive show in New York is an up-tempo record describing his current state of mind. He’s on the road, moving and healing regardless of anything. He says
This is the kind of miracle, these conversations, these things money cannot buy, this shit is not funny, my darling I’ve been living real life, time is to have fun, I think it’s time to get high, leave confirmation.
His second album Clarity of Mind comes after a largely successful debut album in 2022. The album which featured monster hits like Soso, Understand, Bend You, Woman, I’m a Mess and a collaboration with Justin Bieber remains a fan favourite to date.
” I had just seen the cruelty of the world so much, and immigration, being treated like what? As soon as they see the Nigerian passport, and until they realize that I’m Omah Lay, that’s when the treatment changes. All that added to the inspiration behind Moving, and Moving is a very positive song, it’s a song about just uplifting new situations, being energetic and alive enough to be able to move, being thankful.”
“In the video I tried to capture one of the most famous stories of a Nigerian, Edo to be precise who always tried to get to Europe illegally through the Sahara desert. Also I tried to capture the story of every immigrant who is just looking for a home to settle”.
He described his creative process while making the single. He landed in Sweden and had a two-day recording camp and made the song on the last day.
He says something interesting. He says ” Of course I have my fans, my family, my team, maybe I’m loved but I don’t feel that way, especially by the media and the people that call themselves the gatekeepers.
We await the single and the album, and we love you Omah Lay.
