Romanian authorities conducted raids on the properties of controversial influencer, Andrew Tate on Wednesday, intensifying an ongoing investigation into human trafficking and rape allegations against him.
Tate, who is already awaiting trial on charges of rape and human trafficking, could now face additional charges, including sexual exploitation of minors, money laundering, trafficking, and witness tampering.
According to the Romanian Organized Crime Directorate (DIICOT), search warrants were executed at four locations in Bucharest and Ilfov County as part of this expanded investigation.
The raids are part of a broader inquiry into Tate’s activities, which has been unfolding for several months. Tate and his brother were initially detained in Romania in December 2022 and were released from house arrest in August 2023.
The investigation initially began after an American woman reported being held against her will at one of Tate’s properties. Authorities have since widened their probe, suspecting that Tate is involved in a more extensive human trafficking network.
Despite the mounting allegations, Tate has consistently denied any involvement in illegal activities.
In response to the recent raids, he posted on X, “The Matrix is real. And they have a tried and true playbook. Slander is their number one tool and the process is the punishment. But unfortunately for them, good always wins in the end.”
Tate has repeatedly claimed that Romanian prosecutors lack credible evidence and that the charges against him are part of a larger conspiracy to silence him.
The Tate brothers, both former kickboxers and dual UK-US nationals, are accused of running an adult content business that allegedly exploited women and operated as part of a criminal organization.
In addition to the Tate brothers, two female Romanian associates and seven alleged victims are implicated in the case.
