A door at Preston Market Hall is finally back operational after well over half-a-year out of action.

The Earl Street entrance to Preston Market Hall had been out of action since December 23 last year when a car smashed through.

It was made clear afterwards that the entrance would be out of use for longer than traders or the public would hope or expect, though Preston City Council said it was being treated as a priority.

It will come as a relief to traders who said the lack of working door at Earl Street had affected footfall to their businesses, as well as creating every day operational issues for them.

Preston City Council had stated that securing the correct glass, as well as the insurance claim related to the incident before Christmas, had delayed the repair work from being completed.

Temporary hoarding and railings, with information about the Market Hall’s history, had been put up since May – before the area had been left as it was when the crash took place.
