Human rights activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, said the ongoing nationwide protest tagged ‘End Bad Governance In Nigeria’ has proven that South Eastern Nigeria loves President Bola Ahmed Tinubu more than any sub-region.
Dele Farotimi, a strong critic of President Tinubu, believed that the ongoing protest is not widely spread in the Southeast probably because Tinubu is more popular in the geopolitical zone than in any other part of Nigeria.
Farotimi’s observations came after no protests were reported in the five states of the Southeast geopolitical zone on Friday, August 2.
This comes when protests have erupted across the country since August 1, 2024, with organizers expressing concerns about widespread hunger and inflation in Nigeria.
“On the evidence of the geographical spread of the ongoing protests, it is safe to conclude that Tinubu is much more loved in the land of the rising sun, than in any other part of Nigeria,” Dele Farotimi wrote on his X page.
Note that Farotimi was one of the front liners for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, during the 2023 generation election.
In the said election, Obi won all the states in the Southeast against President Tinubu, while the president won most states in the West and northern Nigeria, where the ongoing protest has been more pronounced.
