Hundreds of people flocked down to Preston Docks today (21 August) to see the River Trader.

The barge dropped off a giant electricity transformer just after 12pm this Wednesday afternoon.

The ship had set off from Portland, UK on the 14th August, according to a tracking website.

The ship cruised up the River Ribble towards the Docks, waiting for high tide to make a safe trip.

The Docks and Marina have been closed to water-based vehicles today, and will continue to be closed tomorrow (22 August).

It is due to head from the Docks to the National Grid site at Penwortham on Sunday (25 August) and there will be some road closures in place.
