A search is underway for missing crew after two French fighter jets crashed in northern France on Wednesday, the French armed forces minister said.
“One of the pilots was found and is safe and sound. The search is still ongoing,” Sébastien Lecornu, minister of the French armed forces, said in a statement on social media.
The accident took place in Meurthe-et-Moselle, a department bordering Belgium. It involved two fighter jets from the Rafale 3/4 Aquitaine Transformation Squadron, a combat unit of the French air force, Lecornu added.
Lecornu thanked the “armed forces and the gendarmes involved in the search and securing the area.”
