Tinubu Postpones FEC Meeting, Hosts Security Chiefs As #EndBadGovernance Continues.
President Bola Tinubu has rescheduled this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting to an undisclosed date as the ongoing #EndBadGovernace protest continues nationwide.
Naija News learnt that some ministers were seen at the Council Chamber at the scheduled time, but President Tinubu, his Vice President Kashim Shettima, his Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, did not show up.
A minister who spoke with Punch confirmed that the meeting had been shifted but declined to explain the reason for the postponement.
The minister said, “It is no longer holding today. But you know, the council meets on Mondays only when there are issues to discuss.”
Presidency source also confirmed the rescheduling of the FEC meeting, stating that a memo was disseminated on Sunday night, but some ministers did not receive the postponement notice on time.
Photo: DSS Arrest Tailor Sewing Russian Federation Flags
The Department of State Service (DSS), has arrested a tailor in Kano State over the possession and mass production of Russian flags in the Nothern region.
Naija News reports that Security Analyst and Counter Insurgency Expert, Zagazola, made this known in a post via X on Monday.
The post read, “DSS arrested Tailor for sewing Russian Federation Flags.”
Recall that some of the #EndBadGovernance protesters in the North have been flying the Russian flag, calling on the Russian government to come to their aid.
Over the weekend, photos of protesters waving the Russian flag made the rounds on social media, including a video of some tailors making the flags.
Kaduna Govt Declares Curfew As Protest Gains Momentum On Day 5
The Kaduna State Security Council, on Monday, imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna and Zaria Metropolitan Cities.
Naija News reports that the decision was reached following the result of the protest in the cities.
Although normalcy had been restored in some parts of Kaduna, thousands of youths are out on the streets, demanding an end to what they described as bad governance.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu, on Sunday addressed the nation, calling for an end to the protest, but the protesters said the President did not address their demands.
The overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement said the measure was taken in the interest of peace.
Thugs Chase Protesters Around Sanwo-Olu’s Office In Lagos
Protesters in Lagos State calling for an end to bad governance, have been chased off the streets by thugs in Alausa, the seat of government in the State.
Naija News understands that the office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is in Aluasa, where protesters, who refused to head for the Freedom Park in Ojota, the court approved protest venue in Lagos, have been since the nationwide protest began, on Thursday.
According to Daily Trust, however, around 12 midday, hoodlums descended on them with sticks, machetes and different weapons.
They fled in different directions as their assailants closed in.
Security operatives who were on ground reportedly looked away while the protesters ran for cover.
The incident happened 24 hours after hoodlums chased protesters out of Freedom Park.
