The Edo State, Labour Party Candidate, Olumide Akpata who attended the debate organized by the Edo State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists, over the weekend, berated the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, Monday Okpebholo and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Asue Ighodalo, for not showing up for the debate.
Akpata called on Nigerians to insist that those aspiring to govern them must be made accountable to them.
He described the failure of both candidates to honour the invitation to debate, as an outright disregard for the people of Edo State.

The state’s commissioner for Communication and Orientation, claimed that the arrest was the handiwork of the All Progressives Congress adding that over 10 PDP leaders, including the Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area, Collins Aigbo-gun were being kept in dungeons on the orders of the APC.
In a video that has now gone viral, the Police were seen trying to forcefully arrest a PDP leader in Ikpoba Okha Local Government of the state.
