Nigerian music sensation Asake is taking fans on an intimate journey through his rise to superstardom with the release of a new documentary narrated by British actor Idris Elba.
Following a meteoric ascent since breaking into the mainstream in 2022, he has captivated audiences worldwide with his chart-topping hits and dynamic performances.
The documentary was unveiled on September 23, 2024, via Mr Money’s Instagram, and opens in the bustling streets of Lagos, where the artist grew up.
It coincides with the release of his latest album, Lungu Boy, which features collaborations with renowned artists like Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilaa.
The title Lungu Boy—which translates to “ghetto boy”—reflects his journey from humble beginnings to international acclaim.
The documentary aims to provide deeper insight into his experiences and the challenges he faced on his path to success.
At a recent sold-out concert at the O2 Arena, where Asake made history by selling out the venue for the second time, he was honoured with an O2 Arena sold-out plaque and a BRIT silver plaque for his album Work of Art, presented by none other than Idris Elba.
Notably, Work of Art is Asake’s second album to achieve BRIT silver certification, following his debut, Mr Money With The Vibes.
Asake has made remarkable strides in the UK music scene, becoming the only Nigerian artist to have all three of his albums reach the top of the UK Apple Music Album Chart.
With his documentary, he not only celebrates his achievements but also connects with fans by sharing the story behind the star.
