Australian actor and director Lex Marinos dies at the age of 75

Renowned Australian actor and director Lex Marinos OAM has died at the age of 75.

The performer's family announced the death in a statement on Facebook late this afternoon, after he passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home.

Marinos, who was born in Wagga Wagga in the NSW Riverina region, was known for his roles in local dramas including Kingswood Country, A Country Practice and The Slap.

His decades-long career on the silver screen earned him an Order of Australia medal in 1994.
