Trump, 78, explained that his wife, Melania, watched the chaotic scene in Butler, Pennsylvania, unfold on TV.

“Barron was outside having a tennis lesson,” he said.

“He’s a good tennis player, he’s outside playing tennis and someone ran up and said ‘Barron, Barron, your father’s been shot.”

Trump described his son, the only one he shares with Melania, as a “good son” and “good student.”

“He ran, ‘Mom, what’s going on?’

“She couldn’t believe it,” Trump said of his wife. “She was actually watching it live, can you imagine?”

A bullet grazed Trump’s ear, leaving him bloodied as Secret Service agents assembled around him.

“And then I got up and let people know I was okay. Fight. Fight. Fight,” he said.

“But it was a big hit. A miracle actually.”

Trump added that his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., spoke to him after the shooting, saying that he couldn’t believe his father survived.

“From that distance, it’s supposed to be, like, a sure thing,” said Trump, referring to shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, who shot at the former president from a roof roughly 400 to 450 feet away.

“It’s God. I know people that have become believers in God because of it,” he said.

‘SHE LOVES ME’

A few weeks after the shooting, Trump shared Melania’s reaction to the attack with Laura Ingraham.

“She was watching,” said Trump. “She was watching live.”

Trump added that when asked how Melania felt after the attempt, she said she “can’t really even talk about it.”

“Which is good because that means she likes me,” Trump said with a laugh.

“[If] she could talk about it freely, I’m not so sure which is better. She either likes or loves me, that’s nice.

“But when I went down and she thought the worst had happened. They would have had instant replay.”

Melania Trump's response to shooting

On Sunday morning, Melania broke her silence with a statement about the shooting.

“I am thinking of you now, my fellow Americans.

“We have always been a unique union. America, the fabric of our gentle nation is tattered, but our courage and common sense must ascent and bring us back together as one.

“When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave Secret Service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband.

“To the families of the innocent victims who are now suffering from this heinous act, I humbly offer my sincerest sympathy. Your need to summon your inner strength for such a terrible reason saddens me.

“A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion – his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration. The core facets of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried below the political machine.

“Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times.

“Let us not forget that differing opinions, policy, and political games are inferior to love. Our personal, structural, and life commitment – until death – is at serious risk. Political concepts are simple when compared to us, human beings.

“We are all humans, fundamentally, instinctively, we want to help one another. American politics are only one vehicle that can uplift our communities. Love, compassion, kindness, and empathy are necessities.

“And let us remember that when the time comes to look beyond the left and the right, beyond the red and the blue, we all come from families with the passion to fight for a better life together, while we are here, in this earthly realm.”

“Dawn is here again. Let us reunite. Now.

“This morning ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the single-minded ideas that ignite violence. We want a world where respect is paramount, family is first, and love transcends. We can realize this world again. Each of us must demand to get it back. We must insist that respect fills the cornerstone of our relationships, again.

“I am thinking of you, my fellow Americans.

“The winds of change have arrived. For those of you who cry in support, I thank you. I commend those of you who have reached out beyond the political divide – thank you for remembering that every single politician is a man or a woman with a loving family.”

He praised the Secret Service agents who escorted him off-stage, calling them “brave.”

“Bullets were flying over me. I went down and they were – they were on top of me, I had a lot of very big, strong people on top of me.”

However, he said that there should have been someone on the roof where Crooks had taken his shot.

“Should’ve been communication with the local police and we’re seeing this guy, who was a very disturbed person… how about the Trump fans who were screaming about him?”

FRESH START

Barron Trump, 18, is set to begin his first semester of college after graduating from Oxbridge Academy in Florida.

His father revealed to The New York Post that the teen would be attending college in New York, however, he was tight-lipped about the school.

“He’s all set in a certain school that’s very good,” Trump told the outlet last month.

The former president said that his team would make an announcement about the school “soon,” however it has yet to happen.

New York State houses more than 200 colleges and universities and a majority of its students have already begun their freshman orientation programs.

However, there has been no confirmed sight of Barron, who stands at 6-foot-7-inches, reported The Daily Beast.

It’s been theorized that Barron possibly enrolled at New York University – only 3.5 miles from Trump Tower.

His mother, Melania, shared a post on X last week praising the city.

“New York City captivated my heart the moment I arrived 28 years ago today,” she wrote along with a photo of Midtown Manhattan.

“This electrifying town isn’t just my home; it’s a colorful canvas where dreams come alive. New York’s iconic skyline and vibrant culture inspire me every day.”

The life of Barron Trump

Barron Trump is Donald Trump's youngest son. He has been selected as one of the Florida GOP's delegates ahead of the Republican National Convention that takes place this summer. The U.S. Sun takes a look back at Barron Trump's life.

Barron Trump was born on March 20, 2006, to parents Melania and Donald Trump.

Barron was seen with his dad Donald when the tycoon was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.

During his childhood, he was also pictured with his parents at the US Open Tennis championships.

Barron went viral when he sleepily struggled to keep his eyes open as Donald gave a victory speech following the 2016 presidential election.

Barron attended school in New York before continuing his studies in Maryland in May 2017.

In January 2021, Donald Trump departed Washington DC after losing the 2020 presidential election. The family headed to Florida.

Barron continued his studies at the Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Barron turned 18 on March 20, 2024. He missed out on voting for his dad in the Florida GOP primary by one day.

He is set to graduate from the Oxbridge Academy in May 2024 and could study at New York University post-graduation.

Barron has been named one of the Florida GOP’s 41 delegates for the Republican National Convention.

The post has led many to believe that Barron is attending the school, breaking his family‘s 60-year legacy at the University of Pennsylvania.

If the reports are true, Barron would become the first Trump to attend a New York City College since his father studied at Fordham University in the Bronx in 1964 before transferring to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania two years later.

When asked if Barron would enroll at NYU, Trump smiled but told the Post that he wouldn’t reveal the school until the announcement had been made.

“He’s always been a very good student, he’s smart.”

RALLY DEBUT

The youngest Trump made his political debut at a campaign rally in Florida on July 9.

As his father hosted thousands of voters at his golf club in Doral – just outside Miami – he introduced Barron, who has largely stayed out of the limelight.

“Welcome to the scene,” Trump said.

“This is the first time he’s ever done it. Where is Barron? Stand up. Look at him!”

Barron stood and proudly waved to the adoring crowd.

Trump complimented his son, calling him “pretty popular” after the raucous cheers from the audience.

“He may be more popular than Don and Eric,” he said referring to his other sons, Donald Jr. and Eric.

“We gotta talk about this. Hey, Don, we’ve gotta talk about this huh?”

Before going back to his speech, Trump welcomed his son “to the scene.”

“He had such a nice, easy life. Now it’s a little bit changed.”
