The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has raised alarm that the federal government prefers to work with the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State instead of Governor Abba Yusuf‘s government.
The former governor of Kano State, Kwankwaso, claimed that while the federal government gave other state governments palliative rice to share to their citizens, Kano’s palliative was given to APC stalwarts to handle.
In a statement on his X handle, on Monday, the NNPP national leader stated that the federal government insulted Kano State government and is driving politics too far.
“For the last one week I have been in Kano, and sadly I noted with great disappointment the Federal Government distribution of rice palliative to 35 states all through their Governors, except Kano State in the whole federation.
“Kano’s share was handed over to APC stalwarts to handle. This is a gross insult to our constitutional democracy and driving partisanship too far.
“I call on Mr. President to immediately halt this naked derailment of democracy,” Kwankwaso said.
The former Minister of Defence also revealed that there has been a change of Department of State Services (DSS) directors in the state, in a space of three weeks.
He explained that three state DSS directors have been appointed and replaced within three weeks. He noted that the situation has been affecting the state’s security.
“I have also noted with great concern that within a span of just two weeks, 3 different State Directors of DSS were posted and reposted out of Kano and we are still counting. Without doubt this is negatively affecting the security of Kano State,” Kwankwasoadded.

While Canada's largest airline made the list overall, it was another homegrown carrier that ended up stealing the show.</p><p>Earlier this year, <a href="https://www.airlineratings.com/articles/worlds-best-airlines-for-2025">AirlineRatings.com</a> scored airlines around the world on features like in-flight entertainment, seat comfort, and overall service. While big names from the U.S. and Europe made up much of the list, a <a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/canadian-airlines-airports-ranked-flight-delays-2024">Canadian airline</a> soared past some major competition to claim the second spot globally.</p><p>The 2025 ranking focused on so-called hybrid airlines, which promise a mix of low-cost perks with some full-service comforts — think reclining seats, free non-alcoholic drinks, and a bit more legroom than your average economy seat.</p><p>To qualify as a hybrid, an airline needs to offer at least 30 inches of seat pitch in economy and those complimentary beverages, which rules out some of the ultra-budget players.</p><p>While airlines from the U.S. and Europe dominate the list, one Canadian carrier managed to edge out some of the biggest names in the industry to claim the number two spot worldwide.</p><blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/p/C71fMbosFBh/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==" data-instgrm-version="4" style="background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);">

</blockquote><script async="" defer="" src="//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js"></script><p>So, which airline took the crown for Canada It was none other than <a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/tag/westjet">WestJet</a>. The Calgary-based airline has been making big moves over the past few years, shifting from its budget roots into a more premium experience, especially on international routes. While economy passengers on shorter flights still get that budget-friendly experience, longer flights now have more perks.</p><p>And that shift seems to be working — WestJet ranked higher than airlines like Virgin Australia, British Airways, Delta, and United.<br/></p><p>Air Canada also secured a spot on the list, coming in at number eight. While it didn't place as high as its fellow Canadian carrier, it was still recognized for balancing affordability with solid service.</p><h3>World's best hybrid airlines</h3><br/><blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/p/C1cSiJQOZaF/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==" data-instgrm-version="4" style="background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);">
