Fulwood Library is to close for nearly two months in the run up to Christmas.

Lancashire County Council confirmed the Garstang Road site is to close from Wednesday 9 October.

Work is needed to repair the library’s heating system.

A spokesperson for the county council said: “Fulwood library will be closed for around six weeks from 7pm on 9 October so that essential work to the building’s heating system can be carried out.

“We’re very sorry for any inconvenience that this closure may cause. There are a number of alternative libraries nearby that customers can use, including Sharoe Green and Ingol libraries. Our online services are also available.

“We will update our website as soon as we know exactly when we’re able to reopen.”

The library was given a major refurbishment in 2017.

It had previously been closed by the county council as one of a number of libraries to be mothballed by the previous Labour administration at the county council, but this cutback was reversed in 2017 when the Conservatives took control of County Hall.
