A nursery in Fulwood has been forced to suspend operations while an investigation takes place.
Parents at Grasshoppers Nursery, on Broughton Business Park in Fulwood, were told to collect their children last week after Ofsted suspended the business’ registration to provide childcare services.
Ofsted said that the suspension is in place ‘because we reasonably believe that the continued provision of childcare may expose children to a risk of harm’.

The suspension is in place for six weeks to allow further investigation to take place and a notice seen by Blog Preston states that the action does not mean the provider will be unable to provide care in future.
The notice reads: “We are taking this step because we reasonably believe that the continued provision of childcare may expose children to a risk of harm.
“The purpose of the suspension is to allow time for further enquiries to be made and/or for steps to be taken to reduce or eliminate any risk of harm.
“Suspension does not automatically mean that a provider will be unsuitable to provide care in the future, or that we will cancel a registration. We only take steps to cancel a registration if we consider that a provider is no longer suitable to provide childcare.
“It is an offence to provide childcare that requires registration while a suspension is in place.”
The existing social media accounts and contact numbers for Grasshoppers Nursery are no longer active.
The nature of any incident that led to the decision being taken has not yet been made clear. The nursery was rated ‘Good’ in all areas when last inspected by Ofsted in 2021.
Blog Preston contacted Grasshoppers Nursery and Ofsted for comment.
